MODERNIZING PRODUCT DATA ACCESS

CONTEXT

Customers were increasingly asking for API-based access to product data, which had become the market standard. The existing delivery model relied mainly on flat files and full data downloads (download.zip), which were cumbersome to integrate and forced customers to retrieve the entire dataset even when they only needed new or updated products. This approach was also becoming a commercial disadvantage compared with more modern competing solutions.

WHAT I DID

● Defined the priority use cases with three to four major clients, complemented by feedback from Customer Care and Sales, including the ability to retrieve only new products and updated data.● Translated those needs into development priorities and structured the delivery process in Jira, with a clear backlog, ownership, deadlines and blockers.● Coordinated Product, Engineering, Operations and Sales through meetings every two weeks and a central Confluence space documenting decisions, progress and next steps.● Balanced business priorities against Engineering capacity, postponing or rescheduling some features when technical constraints made it unrealistic to deliver everything at once.

IMPACT

The API reached a level of maturity that allowed testing to begin with several major clients to gather feedback, as well as with customers managing smaller and less complex catalogs. This milestone laid the groundwork for a gradual migration toward API-based delivery, with two clear business objectives: reducing the internal cost of processing full data files and removing a significant barrier when engaging new prospects.

LAUNCHING TWO NEW FEATURES

CONTEXT

Manufacturers and retailers were asking for two specific enhancements: the ability to distribute Annotated Images alongside standard product visuals, and the option for manufacturers to provide their own Manufacturer Product Name instead of relying solely on a standardized category-based description. These needs had been known for some time, but the solution was built on an aging architecture that was highly sensitive to change. Any enhancement therefore had to be designed carefully to avoid disrupting the existing system.

WHAT I DID

● Identified and prioritized these needs based on my experience managing strategic accounts, recurring requests from manufacturers and retailers, and feedback from customer-facing teams.● Brought Product, Engineering, Operations and Sales together around the problem to find a way to integrate and distribute the new data without making major changes to the existing architecture.● Defined and adjusted the scope of both features, deciding what could be delivered safely and what needed to be simplified or left out because of technical constraints.● Led development through to launch using Jira, regular working sessions and Operations validation, then prepared the internal and external documentation and supported communication to teams and customers.

IMPACT

Two new features were launched into production within two to three months despite the constraints of an aging system. Over time, more manufacturers began providing Annotated Images. Manufacturer Product Name gave manufacturers the ability to provide partners with a product title better aligned with their own presentation and branding strategy.

STRATEGIC ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT

CONTEXT

I managed several international strategic accounts, including HP, Lenovo, Atea and ALSO, acting as the main point of contact for day-to-day operations and the overall client relationship. The scope covered service quality, incidents, ongoing projects, product launches and renewals, in close coordination with Sales for the commercial aspects.

WHAT I DID

● Led weekly client calls to review incidents, projects, enhancement requests, service quality and commitments, supported by a shared tracker tailored to each client’s way of working.● Managed critical escalations by turning issues into clear action plans, mobilizing Production and the relevant internal teams, escalating risks to leadership and keeping the client informed through to resolution.● Prepared and led QBRs end to end, building the presentations, statistics and analyses covering service quality, volumes, incidents, turnaround times, usage, ROI and projects delivered during the quarter.● Supported account growth and renewals by understanding client needs, identifying relevant services and providing the analysis needed for commercial discussions, while financial negotiations remained owned by Sales.

IMPACT

Clients benefited from a structured and transparent view of their priorities, incidents and ongoing projects. Escalations were coordinated through to resolution, while QBRs provided a fact-based view of service performance. My understanding of each client’s usage and business needs also informed account development discussions and renewals led with the Sales team.

SHOWCASE PRODUIT

CONTEXT

Sales teams were presenting a complex solution using PowerPoint decks, internal demos and documentation spread across multiple sources. What was missing was a simple, visual and easily shareable way to explain the service to prospects, including non-technical stakeholders.

WHAT I DID

● Came up with the Showcase concept to replace fragmented materials with a single tool designed around the practical needs of the Sales team.● Brought together and simplified existing content from multiple sources, then restructured it from a salesperson’s perspective rather than a technical one.● Designed and built the site end to end in Google Sites, from information architecture and user flow to copy, visuals and examples, before handing Engineering a complete version to integrate into the company’s official website.● Had the Showcase tested by Sales, walked them through it, gathered feedback and refined the content based on how they actually used it in customer conversations.

IMPACT

The Showcase became a practical tool for live demos and a resource that could be easily shared with prospects. By making a complex solution easier to understand, it helped contacts explain the service internally, communicate its value more clearly and share it with their own decision-makers.

DOCUMENTATION & CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

CONTEXT

Documentation was spread across multiple channels, sometimes outdated or linked through pages that no longer worked. Customers and internal teams were often relying on copies they had saved previously, without always knowing whether the information was still current. The goal was to create clear, reliable points of reference that were easy to find and use.

WHAT I DID

● Redesigned the client portal homepage to provide direct access to product updates, tips, roadmap highlights, support resources and the Community Portal.● Reorganized the Community Portal from the ground up around a clearer structure: Documentation & Support, DataSource Components, Product Data Structure & Classification and FAQ, while updating outdated content and fixing broken links.● Launched a monthly newsletter by selecting the most relevant topics and actively involving Sales, Support and Production to reflect their communication needs and bring them into the process.● Centralized internal documentation in Confluence around a single landing page, giving technical, Support and Sales teams quick access to the latest resources.

IMPACT

Customers and internal teams had clearer points of reference and easier access to reliable, up-to-date information. Support teams could share a direct link instead of repeatedly explaining the same topics by email, reducing recurring questions and the time spent searching for or recreating information.

ANALYSE BUSINESS & RENTABILITÉ

CONTEXT

Assessing the true profitability of individual accounts was difficult because contract data, service usage and operational workload came from multiple sources. Some long-standing contracts had also evolved over time without their commercial terms always remaining aligned with the level of service being delivered.

WHAT I DID

● Consolidated data from multiple sources by combining contract value, service usage, volumes, Support activity and operational workload to build an account-level view.● Built a detailed Excel analysis model using formulas and pivot tables, including visual flags to automatically highlight unusual data points and accounts requiring further investigation.● Investigated anomalies with Sales and Customer Care to understand what was behind the numbers, including outdated contract terms, disproportionate support effort, low revenue or services that had become too costly to deliver.● Presented findings and recommendations to senior management, with options ranging from adjusting the service model to revisiting contract terms or discontinuing accounts that could no longer be supported profitably.

IMPACT

The analysis uncovered situations that had previously been difficult to see, including long-standing accounts receiving a level of service that was no longer proportionate to their contract value. It contributed to the renegotiation of selected contracts under revised terms and to the closure of accounts that were no longer economically viable.
